About SciTech Challenge

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Park (“Science Park”), Arrow Asia Pac Ltd (“Arrow”) and Indiegogo are pleased to announce the SciTech Challenge ("Challenge") will take place in Hong Kong in April 2017.  Arrow is one of the Asia-Pacific's leading electronic component distributors and Indiegogo is one of the world’s largest crow-funding platforms, to support the creative ideas and startups for success. 

Witnessing the growth of entrepreneurial activities in our community, the Competition aims to provide a platform for universities, Science Park and surrounding community members an integrative learning experience to turn their creative ideas into reality or further enhancement of their products. 

The Competition will be divided into 2 phases: Phase I aims at providing seminars and workshop to cultivate participants’ entrepreneurship knowledge, skill and vision. After Phase I, participant teams are request to submit 5 – 10 slides introducing their ideas and business models. 10 teams will be selected into Phase II, during which participants are entitled to use all facilities and equipment to develop their products, in Robotic Garage and Arrow Open Lab for FREE. Moreover, they are eligible to join the mentorship programme and receive advices and guidance from professionals and experts.

Projects should be engineering basis, e.g. Robotics & AI, wellness, smart electronics and IOT electrical products, etc. 

Participants:  The Competition is open to all university students, incubatees/tenants in Science Park area, members from other co-working space and surrounding community members.  

Submissions:  Only registration form is required to submit in Phase I and no Summary or Business Proposal is needed. Submission must complete by fill in online google forms and no paper entries will be accepted.  The topics must be engineering basis and related to electronics, electrical, IOT, information technology, renewable energy, environment, wellness and logistics.

Judging Process:  The assessment process consists of 2 rounds: PowerPoint submission (5 -10 slides) for Phase I screening and presentation with product prototype for Phase II. 

Awards:  Winners of the Competition will be awarded a package composed of cash, 1-year free co-working space in Robotics Garage and Arrow Open Lab.  The Competition will also provide the participants a chance to introduce their business plans to an international panel of investors.
